2025 Hall of Fame Classic Baltimore- Preview

The 2025-25 College Basketball season will tip off Monday evening with the 2025 Hall of Fame Classic from the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore Maryland. This year's classic will feature 4 of Maryland's best all in one night. Under 1st year Head coach Buzz Williams, Maryland will take on Coppin State at 6:30, and Towson will take on Loyola MD at 9pm.

The Maryland/Coppin State game will be on the Big Ten Network and Towson/Loyola will be on Monumental Sports.

Below are game previews for each of the 2 games Monday night.

Coppin State vs. Maryland

Coppin State is coming off a 6-24 season and have a roster that features 14 new faces for the Eagles. Coppin State are returning two starters from last year. Khali Horton returns after leading the team in blocks in 2024-25. Camaran Sparrow returns after averaging 4.9 points per game last year.

The Eagles are one of the oldest teams in college basketball this year. 14 of their 17 players are upperclassman. Their biggest issue will be, that tonight's game will be the 1st time all 14 guys share the floor together. Even though they have the age advantage, the lack of talent is missing. Horton and Sparrow combined for 12 points per game last year.

The new look Terrapins are looking to build off of last year's Sweet Sixteen run. However, after Kevin Willard departed the program for Villanova and almost the entire roster departed for the NBA or transfer portal, the Terps only return one player with playing time at Maryland.

Maryland hired Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams. He now leads a roster of 10 transfers and 4 freshman at Maryland. One transfer that is expected to make a big impact for Maryland is former Washington State and Indiana guard Myles Rice. The former Pac-12 Freshman of the year will look to regain his top performance with Maryland. Rice and Texas A&M transfer Solomon Washington are both questionable for tonight's game with injuries.

Towson vs. Loyola MD

In the second game of the doubleheader, Towson will take on Loyola.

Towson is 1 of 5 programs that will be returning a conference player of the year winner from the previous season. Tyler Tejada is coming off a CAA Player of the Year award in a season where he averaged 16.9 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game. Valpariso transfer Tyler Schmidt will look to make a big impact with Towson. The 3-point specialist will be an excellent perimeter shooter for Head Coach Pat Skerry's squad.

Loyola is returning 9 players from last year's team. 2nd year Head Coach Josh Loeffler is coming off a year where he saw improvements in every statistical area for the Greyhounds. He is returning Jacob Theodosiou who started every game last year and led the team in scoring.
