Oh boy college football chaos is here!
Another eventful weekend of college football shows that we really have two elite teams and then everybody else. Georgia flexed it's muscle on Arkansas with a 37-0 drubbing without starting QB JT Daniels. In the SEC West Alabama dominated Ole Miss in Tuscaloosa. I am trying to enjoy the season and not get ahead of myself, but good God that SEC title game is going to be awesome. Now let's get into everything from the game of the week to the winners/losers, and CS Top 10
Game of the Week: Penn State 24 Indiana 0
OK you got me this is a cop out answer. You see, I was in Happy Valley this weekend and the stripe out was a ton of fun. If you have never been to Happy Valley for a night game the atmosphere is absolutely electric. Indiana is not a good team but Penn State looks every bit the part of a Big 10 champion. Huge game in Iowa on October 9th coming up. I mostly just wanted to write about how much fun I had this weekend, but in all honesty, either Stanford beating Oregon or Kentucky beating Florida were the game of the week. Give me upsets all day.
Winners
Cincinnati: They did what they had to do. There two biggest games are now behind them. The Bearcats are poised to be the first G5 tea. in the CFP and I am very excited to see that happen. The ultimate drama now will be if Oregon and Ohio State finish as one loss conference champions. Can you let both in ahead of Cincinnati? Oregon beat Ohio State but if Ohio State beats Michigan, Penn State, and Michigan State how do you keep them out? Buckle up.
Ohio State: Happy learned how to putt. Beating Rutgers is nothing to write home about but a 52-13 win over Rutgers shows me Ohio State may be turning back into Ohio State again. Oregon losing now puts them in a great spot to make the CFP.
Pitt Panthers: Kenny Pickett looks like a serious Heisman candidate. They just throttled Georgia Tech on the road, a team that hung with Clemson and beat North Carolina. The ACC is wide open. Pitt is looking like a sneaky NY6 bowl team right now. Something to monitor in the ACC.
Losers
Notre Dame: When you are an independent you have to go undefeated. The better team won but they went out with a whimper committing three first half turnovers. No rest for the weary as they get Virginia Tech on the road at night. No small task.
Oregon: As it stands today there is no ranked teams on their schedule the rest of the way. The Ducks who once controlled their own destiny may need a lot of help to get into the CFP. We are once again staring at the PAC 12 not having a representative on college football's biggest stage.
Arkansas: Listen it's not their fault they were ranked 8th in the country after beating two very soft teams in the state of Texas. But Jesus what a dud that was from the Razorbacks. 37-0 is an absolute beatdown. Now they get Ole Miss coming off of a huge loss. This feels like a game that whoever loses could have their season spiral out of control.
