Let's Not Forget About JJ

The first few days of training camp have had the Eagles three rookie wide receivers impress and show off their speed and pass catching abilities. Jalen Reagor, Jonathon Hightower, Quez Watkins have all impressed and have fans and media members salivating at their potential.

We are quick to dismiss JJ Arcega Whiteside though. The young wide receiver is entering his second season. He is hoping to forget the struggles from the first season. JJ was also quick to impress last season in his first camp and that did not translate into a very successful first year. Most of his struggles were from injuries he battled all season and a lot of lost confidence. But when the Eagles selected him in the second round ahead of DK Metcalf few expected the poor season he had. I brought him up on the most recent episode of All About the Birds and how we should not write him off just yet.

Most fans are quick to forget how hyped he was prior to last season. He is a big bodied receiver that is supposed to be able to go up and grab those 50/50 balls.

Before we write him off.... here short list of 2nd round receivers in the last decade that did not light the world on fire in their rookie year.

-2010 Golden Tate- 21 receptions for 227 yards and 0 TD's

-2011 Randall Cobb 25 receptions 375 yards 1 TD's

-2012 Alshon Jeffery - 24 receptions 367 yards and 3 TD's

-2017 Curtis Samuel 15 receptions 115 yards 0 TD's

Look I know this list is small. But it shows it is way too early to just say "cut the kid"..
