College Football Week 7: Thank God We Don't Have to Pretend Iowa is Good Anymore

Down goes Number 2! Congratulations to the CFP selection committee as they no longer have to worry about Iowa stealing a playoff spot if there only loss was to Ohio State in the Big Ten championship. This was a weaker weekend of college football with Michigan, Penn State, and Michigan all taking a week off but we did get some exciting outcomes. Let's get right into it starting with our game of the week.

Game of the week: Ole Miss 31-Tennessee 26

SEC football is just different. Lane Kiffin's first game back at Neyland Stadium will forever live in infamy starting with "FU" chants directed at the Ole Miss coach to start the game and ending with him getting a golf ball thrown at him by a fan. The actual game itself was actually very exciting as well as Tennessee had the ball with a chance to win the game as Volunteers QB Joe Milton inexplicably stepped out of bounds with no time on the clock instead of throwing the ball into the end zone. Regardless of your opinion regarding the actions of the Tennessee fans at the end of this game, we can all agree that "Rocky Top" is an electric song.

Winners:

  1. Georgia: Only team with 4 ranked wins this season in a dominating performance. Easily the best team in college football and rolling towards a date with Florida on 10/30.

  2. Oklahoma State: The quietest 6-0 team in the history of the power 5 just keeps winning after a comeback win against Texas in Austin. There offense still has a lot of question marks but if they can get past a tough test at Iowa State we may have a matchup of undefeated teams in Bedlam to end the season, and then the two meet again for the Big 12 championship a week later.

  3. Oklahoma: Caleb Williams is the real deal. This team has a legitimate chance to be the two seed in the college football playoff. It actually would not surprise me if he gets Heisman votes. The impact he has had on this team is astounding.

Losers:

  1. Arkansas: Sam Pittman's club was the darling of the college football season after a 4-0 start and now have lost 3 straight SEC games. The season has officially spiraled out of control on the Razorbacks

  2. Iowa: Frankly this team got waxed on Saturday afternoon. It is inexcusable to lose that game at home after beating Penn State. They controlled their own destiny to get into the Big 10 title game and now will need some help. Tough look for the Hawkeyes.

  3. Liberty: Yeah if you lose as a 32.5 point favorite you are the loser to end all losers.

CS Top 10:

  1. Georgia

  2. Oklahoma

  3. Cincinnati

  4. Ohio State

  5. Alabama

  6. Michigan

  7. Penn State

  8. Oklahoma State

  9. Michigan State

  10. Oregon (they will lose to UCLA this week and fallout. Enjoy this Ducks fans)
