Phew...that was a tough win, but 3 points on the road is nothing to complain about. All About the Birds covered Sunday's match, and Kacper Przybylko and Jakob Glesnes took to the podium in the post-game press conference.
Kacper talked about his game-winning goal. He credited Jamiro Monteiro for setting up the play and perfectly placing the ball for him. Kacper has done well for the Union offensively thus far, having scored in 2 of the last 3 games. Przybylko has also been very effective in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Przybylko continued by praising the team's effort as a unit, as well as their defensive performance. Even if it was an ugly win, Kacper went on to say, "In the end, who cares about that, we have the three points". He's absolutely right. You always want to grab a point on the road, and stealing three instead is something that you'll be happy with each time.
AATB's own Dave Miller (DaveGfcMiller) went on to ask about Glesnes' great sliding block to keep DC United off the board. Jakob mentioned that he was chasing Perez and was happy that he could jump in front of the shot prior to Blake being tested. Glesnes continued by echoing the team's effort. "Tough away game and you have a good team on the other side that wants three points too. It's huge from the team to get three points from here and keep the 0 on the road."
Coach Curtin has given Glesnes some praise of late, and he touched briefly on how Jakob and Elliott have played well together. I asked Glesnes his thoughts on the chemistry he's built with Jack, and he went on to state, "We have trained for 1.5 years together, and we have an amazing goalie behind us, and we have Kai and Mbaizo each on our sides. So yeah we are doing well together, all of us. and if one of us is missing, then we have Dre behind us that can come with a huge save."
The Union now come back to Chester to take on the Portland Timbers. Start time is 7:00pm on Sunday evening. - Mike Barrera (mbarrera1323)
