Since 2019, Edwards has been flipping the narrative into a positive, in small doses. From plays on special teams to small defensive packages, he has continued to make the most of his snaps. Edwards has high-level instincts, play recognition, and communication that has made-up for his combine profile that showed lackluster speed and explosion.

Even after missing some time due to injury and being overlooked in favor of the future hall-of-infame linebacker Nate Gerry, TJ Edwards now has 28 total tackles, 1 sack, and 2 forced fumbles on the year, as we enter the bye week. Edwards has already garnered interest from analysts with his ability to close gaps and make open-field tackles.

With much to be desired in the LB core for the Eagles this year, TJ Edwards looks to go from “the best option” to cornerstone linebacker. As the roster experiences turnover and the organization looks for building blocks this year, there's optimism TJ Edwards could solidify himself as LB1 for the near future, as long as his play stays consistent in the last half of the season.
