The Philadelphia Eagles Had The PERFECT Round 1

Day one of the 2023 NFL Draft is now in the books. Some big time trades, wild picks, and Will Levis reactions headline this years first round. Eagles fans came in hoping for either Bijan Robinson or Jalen Carter, and Eagles fans left ecstatic!

Howie Roseman and staff went into this process looking to add young pillars to this team, and while they still have time to focus on the offense, they took a calculated approach to improving their defense. In particular, the defensive line, just a few months removed from a painful Super Bowl loss Philly lost a number of high level starters along their top ranked defense. Stars like Javon Hargrave, Chauncey Gardner Johnson and TJ Edwards left major holes to fill. In walks Howie Potter, the rumors throughout draft season were of a possible Philly trade out of 10, and we received just that. Philadelphia was able to move into the number 9 spot to select Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter. The highest ranked player on most draft boards Jalen was met with a mound of controversy this offseason. I won’t get too deep into the drama but I will say he handled the media barrage like a pro. When selected Jalen Carter showed raw emotion and a true appreciation for the moment. I asked him about how he felt being back with his brothers to which he said “I love them guys it feels really good to be back with them”.

We may have our concerns off the field but if The Philadelphia Eagles feel comfortable with him, so do I.

Keeping the Georgia theme alive Philadelphia decided to chose edge rusher Nolan Smith. This young man was very high on many Eagles fans boards, most ok with him being the selection at 10, but Howie stood his ground and was able to take him at 30. This pick may prove to be one of the biggest steals of the first round.

With 4 Georgia Bulldogs selected by Philadelphia in the last two drafts the Eagles continue to collect their infinity stones and hope the finger snap leads to another Super Bowl victory.
