Recap and takeaways from the Eagles victory over the Saints.

The Philadelphia Eagles got a thrilling victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon at The Linc. Rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts got his first start as a Bird, which he will never forget. The Saints were without Drew Brees, as Tayson Hill got the start for New Orleans on Sunday, but the Saints were not in sync at all even though they still had Alvin Kamara. On the day, Jalen Hurts was 17/30 for 167 and one touchdown, and Miles Sanders led the Eagles in rushing for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Jalen Reagor led the Eagles in receiving for 46 yards, and Alshon Jeffery scored the only receiving touchdown on the day. Zach Ertz was back in the lineup against the Saints, but he was very quiet as he only had two receptions for eight yards.

Jalen Hurts needs to be the starter for good- Last week, even in the loss to the Packers, we saw that the offense was more productive after Hurts replaced Wentz. Jalen Hurts had more time to get his rhythm going, and the offense seems more wide open. It also helped lead the Eagles to a victory.

Jake Elliot needs to go- I am grateful to him for the 60-yard game-winning field goal four years ago against the Giants, but all he has done this year is miss not just easy three's but even extra points. That is unacceptable, especially in the NFL, but the kicking game is also one of the biggest keys.

We owe Jim Schwartz a big apology from last season- This entire season, the defense has kept this team together and has won us every game this season. Even today, when the Saints started to get momentum, the defense still fought and held on for an Eagles victory.

Doug Pederson is still on the hot seat- The Eagles did get a big win, and their playoff hopes are not over, but Pederson is still on the hot seat. When you are the Eagles head coach, your seat will always be warm, but today, Doug's seat did get somewhat cooler.
