Eagles Adding Tariq Woolen Shouldn’t Stop Them From Drafting a Corner

The Philadelphia Eagles made a very big move on Tuesday. Former Seahawks CB Tariq Woolen signed a one-year $15M prove-it deal with Philadelphia after a down year. The three-headed monster of Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and now Tariq Woolen, are being named as the best CB trio in the entire NFL.
I mentioned above that it will be a one-year prove it deal for Woolen. He got an AAV of $12M with a chance to make it a full $15M if he accomplishes goals given by the team. The hope is that Woolen will play lights out so he can get a monster payday next season. The Eagles would be more than fine with that because they have to extend their star cornerbacks Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell.
Even though the trio has all the hype in the world, it doesn’t mean Howie Roseman should stop adding talent at the position. That is especially if Tariq Woolen happens to not play up to par. The Eagles own four Top-100 picks in April’s draft, and there are a ton of great CB prospects in that range.

Among those in the Top 100, Clemson’s Avieon Terrell, Arkansas’ Julian Neal, and Georgia’s Daylen Everette come to mind as possible targets in that range.
Philadelphia met with Avieon, Falcons star CB A.J. Terrell’s younger brother, at the NFL Combine, according to Chase Senior. He is a projected first round pick in the middle of the draft and if he is available at pick 23, it cannot be ruled out. He had 5 forced fumbles in 2025, the most by a Clemson DB in a season. He was also a Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist, meaning he was a nominee for the Nation’s best defensive back.
The Eagles met with Arkansas CB Julian Neal at the Senior Bowl extensively, source said. The meeting went well and they sure seem to like him as a fit on the outside opposite of Quinyon Mitchell. He offers top-tier press coverage ability and ball skills, logging 10 pass breakups and 2 interceptions in 2025.
A two-for-one: The Eagles met with Georgia CB Daylen Everette at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine, I’m told. Everette would be a great option as he has good instincts in zone coverage and showed off his blazing speed at the combine, running a 4.38 40-yd dash.
If Philly were to use one of their first 4 picks in the draft, assuming they don’t get traded, I wouldnt rule out another early draft investment in a cornerback. We all know Howie values his secondary…and the draft board may reflect that.
