Philadelphia Union announced the signing of Hungarian international Daniel Gazdag on Tuesday morning.

Gazdag joins the club from Budapest Honved for an undisclosed transfer fee on an initial two-year contract with the options of a third and fourth year to be picked up in the future.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has enjoyed the best scoring season of his career after scoring 18 goals in 32 appearances. He spent seven years in the Honved first team, playing 222 games and scored 33 goals.

Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner could not hide his excitement at the signing and was full of praise for Gazdag.

Tanner said: “We are excited to welcome Daniel to the Philadelphia Union. He is a versatile player who can play multiple positions in the midfield as well as at striker and has the ability to make an immediate impact.

“His aggressive style of play has made him a top finisher in the Hungarian league and a good fit for our system.”

Gazdag made his international debut in September 2019 and could be selected in Hungary's Euro 2020 squad this summer. He scored his first and only international goal in the 4-1 win over Andorra in March of this year.
