Andre Blake and Kai Wagner were named to the matchday roster for the 2022 MLS All-Star game for the second consecutive year.
The MLS All-Stars will face off against the Liga MX All-Stars again after the game concept was used for the first time in 2021. The match will take place on August 10th at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
After being named into the 2022 All-Star roster, this will be Blake's fourth appearance in the game after previously being a part of the roster in 2018, 2019 and 2021. The Jamaican international is currently joint first in the MLS for clean sheets this season with eight and has played a crucial role in the Union having the best defensive record in the league. The Union have conceded just 13 goals in 19 games, with the team closest to that defensive record being the Columbus Crew, who have conceded 20 goals in 18 games.
Wagner's appearance in the squad means he is now the second Union player ever to have featured in an MLS All-Star roster twice. The German defender currently sits on eight assists for the season, which is the joint third highest in the MLS. After notching up a hat-trick of assists in the Union's 7-0 win over DC United, Wagner levelled Sheanon Williams' all-time single-season club record for the franchise.
The Union are back in action on Wednesday, July 13th, as they travel to Inter Miami. Follow @mbarrera1323 for match updates.
